Day 3:Trip to QueenstownDay3 at Queenstown, we decided to head to Arrowtown to do some sightseeing. Arrowtown is just a short drive away from Queenstown and it was the site of the old Chinese settlers during the Gold rush as well as the European gold miners. We went to the old chinese settlers village first which has been restored after the it was abandoned by the chinese folk. It was pretty amazing to see how the chinese immigrants lived in the past. I'm totally at awe of how they could have survived New Zealand's winters in the south in such living conditions. Like come on, they lived in houses that were the size of our toilets for crying out loud. Totally unbelievable but really admirable as well.
" Snow white and the seven dwarfs " kind of feel to it.You can say that the chinese settlers
built their homes that totally blended into their beautiful surroundings

After going to Arrowtown , we stopped by Lake Hayes for a picnic. The Lord of the Rings tour group was around that area as well and it was amusing to watch the guides in costume and entertaining the tourists. Arrowtown was another location that LOTR was filmed at.
After a nice afternoon rest, we decided to head to Glenorchy also known as The gateway to paradise . And Glenorchy definitely epitomizes that phrase. Its so beautiful that you are totally absorbed by the surroundings. Glenorchy is on the other end of Lake Wakatipu and so it was another long drive for us, but definitely not a boring one as the mountains surrounding the lake were just so mesmerizing.

When we reached Glenorchy, we stopped by the pier to go fishing again. We were really close to catching a fish I would have to say. But we didn't catch anything in the end. I filmed a couple of videos of me wishing everyone a happy new year but as you can see, it's obviously too late for that.haha.
We went back to Queenstown for dinner after Glenorchy and we chose to eat at this restaurant called the Britania. They served quintessential British Seafood specialties and hearty meals.
And my poached salmon steak with lemon butter and new potatoes.
