Roadtrip:Queenstown Day1

Just 2 days after we arrived in Christchurch , my family decided to pack up our bags again and head on down to Queenstown to celebrate the new year! Queenstown is down south from chch and it was a 5-6 hour long trip. Just think Singapore to Kl. Its about the same distance. Just that the views are a lot more breath taking! You only see hills covered in palm tress in Malaysia, just the same view for the whole journey. But in New Zealand (god's zone), expect to see rolling green hills, snow-capped mountains, glistening lakes, rows and rows of vineyards..Well you get my drift. I simply adore the New Zealand landscapes!

Stop over at Lake tekapo

Two hours into the journey, it was time for a stop over at Lake tekapo. The waters of Tekapo take on a shade of pale baby blue and its just simply breath-taking, with the Southern Alps as a backdrop. And as usual, there was always time for some cam-whoring.

Vine-yards along the way

QUEENSTOWN BABY!

The shopping in Queenstown is amazing as well, there are like streets full of skiing, watersports and clothing stores as well as restaurants and bars meeting everyone's palette. Shopping at this time was awesome because of the crazy sales they are having. Queenstown is the absolute holidayers paradise. You can call it a holiday town and so most of the people mending the stores are non-locals , mainly japanese ,americans and canadians. Probably trying to earn some money to fuel their adventures in New Zealand.

Queenstown is known for its hottest summers and the coldest of winters in South island so going down to queesntown during winter time is great for skiing and snowboarding as well. Even Bill gates was hanging out in Queenstown playing golf in the nearby town called arrowtown. We saw his private jet at the airport. With the alpine forests as a backdrop and the fresh crisp air, who wouldn't want to spend their holiday here? And by the way, the queenstown views are so spectacular that even the lord of the rings was shot here.

Lucky lucky me. Best New years ever!
